Stenciled Wall

This all started because of The Nate Berkus Show. He had a design blogger guest on his show. She was amazing I must say and she was able to create for a very low cost. I love to save money when you can but I don't cheap out on the items I can not produce to my satisfaction. I am extremely fussy for the finishing  details and finishes.

I made my stencil design out of my throw pillows on the sofa. All you need is graph paper, clear acetate sheets you can buy at your local art supply store, exacto knife and a pencil. But you may need other supplies, it all depends on your design.

Let me show you a few of the deals I bought for this room.

Paintings - Cost of the supplies and time dedicated.
Black Throw Pillows - On sale at Homesence. (20% OFF)
Area Rug - On sale at Homesence. (70% OFF)
All glass accessories (18 Karat)  - On sale at my local home decor store (Attica). (50% OFF)
Black Leather Chair With Hide Hair Pillow and Sleeve (18 Karat) - On Sale at Attica (50% OFF).
Lamps - On sale at Attica. (30% OFF )
Lamp Shades - Good price at Homesence.
Curtain Rod - Regular price at bouclair Home, I love the umbra bars but are too much, I paid 40 % less.
Final discount Item Buffet Console - Bought on Kijiji, Moving sale! (I got this 60% OFF).

I guess you could say this is my house proud!

I am so glad I watched Nate Berkus That day. I am completely satisfied with the end result. Just take this into your consideration when thinking about taking this on. You must have patience and be ready to put a lot of time into it. This is not a quick procedure.

Just wanted to show a close shot of this book end. The owl makes a great little statement on its own. You can find this item at Chapters Book store.

Keep It Up G. Romano. 50 Years!!!!

G.Romano Inc. is a family owned and operated manufacturer of contemporary upholstery, proudly making quality furniture in Montreal Canada since 1962. Focusing on well designed, fashionable furniture for todays modern home.

I have had the Aria sofa for a year now. I must say, I love it. I would definitely consider them again. The prices are affordable and modern. If modern and comfort are important to you, then I would highly recommend G. Romano. I love modern furniture, but I must have comfort as well. They won me over with comfort and design. I am also very satisfied with the way the sofa fabric holds up to daily usage.

Just A Touch!

Spring is approaching fast. Maybe it's time to bring in just a touch
of color. I know my new fresh spring color will be a vibrant yellow.
There's nothing mellow about this yellow. All you need is just a touch.

Here's a floral display designed by eighteen karat.

Yellow might be hard to find but what about fresh cut
Daffodil Flowers for your dining room table or buffet table.
Here's a recent photo from "The spotted Frog."

Maybe a spectacular vase. This would be my first choice.

Here's another option.

What about this option...

Here's eighteen karat's take on moody yellow.

I will use yellow mixed with midnight blue, ocean blues,
as my pop of color. Furniture will remain blacks, grays,
and very dark chocolate brown coffee and end tables.

The Spotted Frog

I stumbled on the site "The Spotted Frog" the other day. This is a canadian company that specializes in custom furniture and they also sell beautiful home accessories and furniture. Here are some photo's I found to be beautiful and inspiring. I love using these shades of blue in my home.

I also love the color red. I started out using red to accent my home, however it has got to be the hardest color to buy. You can never find the right tone of red. I find it is usually too rustic. Never vibrant enough for my taste, so I gave in and went with my next inspiring color...... all shades of blue. I like to think they are the shades of tropical water.

18 KARAT does it again!!!

18 KARAT is back at it. The creative team really proved themselves again. I was unsure if 18 KARAT would have the capability to create great home accessories fashions with having new ownership. I must say I am really impressed with the new glass designs.

I love the crumple vase. I must admit I have an obsession with vases and glass. It's a real problem!

Crumple Glass Vase - 3.5" h x 4" dia - $25.00
Crumple Glass Vase - 6.5" h x 6" dia - $50.00
Crumple Glass Vase - 10.5" h x 6" dia - $75.00
Crumple Glass Vase - 13" h x 5" dia - $75.00

I really like these Florero Vases for one flower or a small grouping three flowers. It all depends on the size of the flowers and the vase.

Florero Glass Vase - 11.75" h x 3" dia - $17.00
Florero Glass Vase - 15.75" h x 3" dia - $22.00
Florero Glass Vase - 19.5" h x 4" dia - $25.00
Florero Glass Vase - 23.5"h x 6.5" dia - $45.00

Another glass piece I really like is the Nostal Bottle Vase. I like the fold over on the top of the neck.

Nostal Bottle Vase - 11" h x 7.5" dia - $50.00
Nostal Bottle Vase - 14" h x 9" dia - $75.00
Nostal Bottle Vase - 16" h x 11" dia - $100.00
All the bottle neck opening sizes are the same 1.5".

Bring On The Holiday Decor & gift Shopping!

I love shopping for friends and family for the holiday season. The only holiday I decorate for is christmas. Who could resist such shiny treasures. Each year I find a few new treasures. I first fell in love this year with the blue ones since this is the new color way for my tree. I must say I am pretty pumped to put two trees up this year.

Then I felt like maybe I should buy the red ones since I am going to be putting up a second tree this year. A-w-e-s-o-m-e!!!! When I got to the car I felt like I should have bought the silver as well but left anyways. The next day I went back for silver. They only had seven left, I bought them all. Yes you would be right in assuming, I do have a christmas decor obsession.

18 KARAT Is Back…

I remember the time when I heard 18 KARAT was going out of business. I was shocked that after 21 years of business and now no more. This was devastating to me and I’m sure it was for so many others too. I went on a mad shopping spree at my local neighborhood store. Sure 18 KARAT’s price point is a bit high, but anything that is beautiful and made of quality is worth it. I believe if you love something, then it is worth it. Who doesn’t love to come home to a home they absolutely love.

You would be surprised how much is hand made and no two item’s will be the exact same. Also almost each piece they create has a story behind it. That is one of my favorite things about 18 KARAT. Welcome back I can not wait to shop the new collection. Too bad they won’t be ready for christmas. My only season I go all out. Here are some photo’s I found of 18 Karat’s holiday last year.

How about that marble, the beautiful blue tones, the paintings and the holiday decor, Wasn’t it amazing? I think that collection 20 was one of the best collections 18 KARAT has put out. I just wish I would have bought more pieces. I am ready for more, bring it on!
Check 18 KARAT out and watch for the new collection in January 2012.
